Concrete Sculpture
Concrete or cement sculpture is a project which to be at its best should take a few weeks to develop and bring to completion. Although smaller projects can be achieved in as little as one day, concrete needs at least a few days to properly set and will need protection from weather during this time. Raw concrete creates an interesting enough finish which ages nicely but the sculpture can be painted or given a mosaic covering.

The pictures below are from a project initiated by Alice McCartney of the Ormeau Baths Gallery in Belfast with Jean Kirk and the pupils of Drumaghliss Primary School in Crossgar. They were facilitated by the artist Colin McGookin during Spring 2002. Click on the thumbnails for a bigger image.
